Build Your Own Home update 1

I want to take notes of the home building process, mostly for myself for future reference, but hey if someone else happens upon this and gets info they need, all the better! Thus far we have: 1) pick our lot. Some of the qualifications were, viewout, facing west, an open builder program, specials up to date (so it will qualify for hte 5yr tax moratorium), and close to school! 2) negotiate lot price and commission rate 3) close on lot (paying cash) 4) pick/buy our floorplan 5) decide on floorplan changes and optional upgrades 6) send in construction loan app AND have bank do an appraisal on the home based on the floor plan and specs 7) site planning done by engineering company

Zoobilee

Hubs talked me into zoobilee tix this yr. I've never been, but I do love the zoo and it is their largest benefit of the year. He had to work this morning and just told me he's going to shower and shave before the evening begins. I scoffed, asking why he needed to shave (I like a little growth!!), and he was like what you expect me to go around all those rich people looking like this? I had to break the news to him: We ARE the rich people. Felt good to say. Feels better actually feeling that way. We've had a hella expensive month, and spending the money feels good. Some of it couldn't be avoided like the 355 to fix the AC for example. And Lexi NEEDED a new car seat, although technically she didn't need a 200 dollar Britax (regularly 339--I'm proud of my purchase!). But Gabi's PB bedding, Mitch's Dre Beats, and 8 new Fiesta dinnerwear settings were just because. Millionaire by 30 or BUST!

Oh Lent...

It's been a very busy Lent, I've got a running list of "big" things that have occured during this Lenten season. I added one more to the list today: my first broken bone ever. Yep, broke my toe on Rafe's bat cave this evening at about 6pm. I've got a walking boot now. sweeeeeeeeeet. It's always something! :D

1/3

We made it back from our first of three weddings this month. We took Lex w us to Lawrence to watch one of Mitch's good friends get married. It was nice, Mitch got a little crazy, Lexi charmed everyone with near constant smiles, and I saw some friends from high school. By the time we got back to the hotel last night I was in misery from a head cold. Really it's not fair: Mitch drinks and I'm the on who feels like crap the next day. I just had 2 Tylenol cold meds, so don't b surprised if my swyping skills are worse than usual. Now I don't even remember what I was going to post in the first place... I do hate when I can only breathe out of half my nose.. ok guess I should go to bed. Lol

Life Experiences

Today the kids and I ran more errands than we usually run in a week! We went through a potential rental house yesterday and decided to make an offer. I have the most flexible schedule, so the kids and I set out to get a proof of funds (req'd for most cash offers), a cashier's check, and sign the contract. We got it in, then Aunt Alli and Beau came over to play. Barkley and Beau had a great time, and everyone enjoyed homemade cheese pizza for lunch (Friday in Lent). Afterwards I had to go back up to the realtor offices to put in our "best and final" offer and sign a sheet acknowledging that other offers might be submitted. It's a Fannie/Freddie property. Anyway, Lexi and I got that done while Mitch and Rafe napped and Addy and Gabi played. Now I'm making Lentil Tacos http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tasty-lentil-tacos/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=lentil+tacos&e8=Quick+Search&event10=1&e7=Home+Page for a Lenten Meal tonight during our book club! We're discussing Outliers, although I've finished 1.5 books since finishing that one (Mockingjay and A Big Little Life). After mom gets off work we are running through the models in the development we're hoping to build in, and then going to First Friday Mass at Mag. One of my goals for the year is to go to Mass on every First Friday/Saturday of the year. This has been a super long runon paragraph, but I wanted to write down about the kids going to sign the contract with me. It was their first time in the business world I guess. They did good--even if Gabi was still in pajamas. I was hoping we wouldn't have to go in! :D

5yo problem solving

This morning I asked the kids what they wanted for breakfast. Rafe asked for oatmeal, but unfortunately I was out of his almond milk. So I told him that and asked again, getting nowhere. Finally Gabi said, "Just make him a peanut butter and jelly." Whyis my 5yo better at problem solving than me? Lol

I finished the Hunger Games trilogy last night, so I'm ready to come back to real life!! It ended how I wanted, but it ended much too quickly.
